The year that was 2020 featured everything from a pandemic to a presidential election unlike anything we’ve ever seen. As a result, a number of film, album, television and book releases were delayed. Entering 2021, there was hope that many things would get back on track during the second half of the year. Unfortunately, that is not the case across the board.
Santa Monica Studio and Playstation Studios have reportedly delayed the release of God Of War 2 until next year. Playstation Studios Head Hermen Hulst broke the unfortunate news during a recent question and answer session.
“So we have, currently, two very big, very narrative-driven games in development: Horizon Forbidden West and the next God of War. And for both of those, they’re frankly affected by access to performance capture and talent. For Horizon, we think we are on track to release this holiday season,” Hulst stated.
“But that isn’t quite certain yet, and we’re working as hard as we can to confirm that to you as soon as we can. And for God of War, the project started a little later. So we’ve made the decision to push that game out to next year, to ensure that Santa Monica Studio can deliver the amazing God of War game that we all want to play.”
When it does arrive, God of War 2 will debut on Playstation 4 and Playstation 5. More details will be shared as they become available.
