It appears that Microsoft’s attempted acquisition of Activision Blizzard has led to an update regarding Grand Theft Auto IV. Several gaming outlets have pointed toward an 111-page document that Microsoft allegedly released to the Competition and Markets Authority in the U.K. While much of the allegedly leaked document points toward information that is largely inconsequential to the average consumer, it does contain a simple statement of interest.
“The highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released in 2024,” the document reads.
It is important to note that this potential release date has not been confirmed by Sony or Microsoft. However, it does seemingly fall in line with recent trends. Just two months ago, almost 100GB of rumored Grand Theft Auto VI content was leaked to the internet. Industry experts indicate that this leak suggests developers are pretty far along in the process of creating the next Grand Theft Auto.
In addition to leaked information regarding the next Grand Theft Auto, a recent report also indicated that the next PlayStation console would not be released until 2027. If reports are true, this would give gamers a bit of time with the next Grand Theft Auto game before having to buy another console.
