This past season for the Sacramento Kings has been disastrous, to put it nicely. There are few highlights from the season, but most of them are from their star big man, DeMarcus Cousins.
Boogie has hit game-winners, thrown down insane dunks and he’s even pranked a fellow teammate. Rookie Nik Stauskas didn’t enjoy it too much but when your new nickname is ‘Sauce Castillo‘, you should be ready for whatever heat the veterans bring you.
The one confusing part of this season was their coaching scenario. They had a solid coach in Mike Malone and the team started off pretty well until Boogie got sick. While he was out, the team started to lose and the organization cut ties with Malone, infuriating DeMarcus.
They went through an interim phase with Tyrone Corbin which didn’t last long because legendary head coach George Karl popped up and joined the team, immediately bringing up questions about Cousins future.
It appears that now Karl isn’t holding back and he’s willing to bet the fact that anyone is available, even one DeMarcus Cousins.
Following from Bill Herenda of CSN Bay Area.
“I’ve had some great players and I’ve never had one player that I have said is untradeable,” Karl added. “You always got to be ready for the possibility of a great trade that could come your way.
“I know I respect him (DeMarcus Cousins) a tremendous amount . . . I think our give and take and our communication has been almost on a daily basis . . . until we can really get to a special place together, I think we’ve got to continue to communicate, what he wants and what I want.”
So that doesn’t exactly sound good but ok, they’ve communicated.
Then there’s this from Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee kind of laying out that it’s been a while since they’ve talked. About a week now, in fact.
George Karl said pregame that he hadn't spoken to DeMarcus Cousins yet since he was declared out for the season.

And from Aaron Bruski of the KozAndBruShow.com.
I don’t think that anything is concrete but DeMarcus Cousins trade speculation has jumped considerably among Kings sources in last 24 hours.

Kings fans – trade speculation by the same sources that broke Karl’s hiring, arena stuff, etc. does not equal a trade being in the works.

Grantland and ESPN’s Bill Simmons touched on the subject of DeMarcus with Sacramento briefly in his most recent ‘Bill Don’t Lie’ podcast basically saying, there’s no way Boogie stays.
Not because he has any insider information but because he has a gut feeling that Boogie is sick of it. I tend to share the same ideas of Simmons. This has to be infuriating for DeMarcus.
Knowing that there’s so much change going on around you and half of the time you’re not being consulted? That’s kind of ridiculous to not want to talk to your star player about anything going on. He should be one of the people you want an opinion on more than any other player and more than most of the front office.
Cousins isn’t getting treated like a king in Sacramento and it might be time for him to step down and give his throne to someone else.
