It looks like the Los Angeles Rams will welcome a familiar face back into the locker room this season.
TL;DR
- Breaking News: Three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald signs a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams.
- Next: San Francisco 49ers at Los Angeles Rams (09/10 at 8:35 p.m.)
On Sunday, August 30, 2026, the Los Angeles Rams shared a screenshot of a letter sent to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
“I’m back,” the letter reads, with a signature from Super Bowl Champion Aaron Donald under the message.
And just like that, the NFC contenders have added the best defensive player in franchise history back to their roster. Reports from ESPN and NFL Network indicate Donald will rejoin his old team on a one-year deal worth up to $20 million.
With the addition, Los Angeles now boasts one of the most feared defensive fronts in recent memory. Donald, an eight-time first-team All-Pro and three-time Defensive Player of the Year, joins Myles Garrett, a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, as well as Braden Fiske, Poona Ford, Kobie Turner, and Byron Young. After finishing eighth in sacks and 17th in total defense last season, the addition of Garrett and Donald will likely take Los Angeles to new heights as they look to make up for last season’s four-point loss in the NFC Championship.
Finishing the preseason undefeated, the Los Angeles Rams will open the regular season at home against their NFC West rivals, the San Francisco 49ers, on Thursday, September 10 at 8:35 p.m. EST on Netflix.
