Unbeaten super welterweight contender Tim Tszyu is reportedly planning to fight again in “early June.” At this time, it is unclear who the super welterweight contender will fight or where the event will take place.
Tszyu was originally scheduled to fight undisputed super welterweight champion Jermell Charlo in January. However, Charlo suffered a hand injury and has been sidelined since. After Tszyu’s most recent fight in January, it was reported that the bout would be scheduled in the middle of the summer. According to a recent report from Nick Walshaw of FOX Sports, Charlo’s recovery is taking longer than expected and it is unlikely that he will be able to fight in mid-summer. Now, Tszyu is expecting to get his shot at the title in late August or early September.
“The bloke hasn’t fought for 12 months,” Tszyu told FOX Sports.
“How long can you keep postponing a fight?”
Charlo has not yet responded to Tszyu’s claims. In the meantime, Tszyu will set his sights on a summer bout with an undetermined opponent. Meanwhile, fellow unbeaten super welterweight contender Sebastian Fundora is set to fight on April 8, 2023 in California.
Few fights capture the imagination of the general public quite like the upcoming showdown featuring Ryan Garcia and Gervonta “Tank” Davis. Both fighters carry perfect records and the heavy expectations of large fan bases into the ring during each fight. However, one fighter’s perfect record will endure its first blemish on April 22, 2023. According to Davis, Garcia will be the fighter to walk away with a bruised ego.
