LaMarcus Aldridge and the Portland Trail Blazers ended a disappointing season when they lost to the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 5 of the first round to get eliminated 4-1. The big reason for their bad ending is because of the injuries withstood by Wesley Matthews, and Arron Afflalo. Now LaMarcus Aldridge is a free agent, and we’ve already heard that Dallas and San Antonio are at the top of his list. Can the Cleveland Cavaliers be a possible destination for the 11 year versatile power forward?
According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the possibility is not impossible:
“sources insist — at, yes, this early juncture — that San Antonio sits near or at the top of Aldridge’s list … unless the Cleveland Cavaliers were to lose Kevin Love and then somehow manufacture a way to sign-and-trade for him.”
So Aldridge has a couple options here:
1) Stay in Portland and earn up to $109 million over 5 years.
2) Leave to go somewhere else (Dallas, San Antonio, Los Angeles, or Cleveland) and earn $81 million over 4 years.
It all depends what Aldridge wants, money and a secure job, or a championship and glory. He’s having the same dilemma that Carmelo Anthony had last year when deciding between New York & Chicago. In my opinion, I hope Kevin Love heads to Los Angeles so we can see LaMarcus Aldridge, LeBron James, and Kyrie Irving all play together. How fun would that be?
