Well. The Portland Trail Blazers are out of the Playoffs. Who saw that coming. Oh wait. Everybody. It’s been a relatively flat end to an up and down Portland season. T’Was injuries that killed the Blazers. Wes Matthews was a big blow for them. And so close to the Playoffs as well. Combine that with the stagnation that Damian Lillard has had since the All-Star break and the book was pretty much written as soon as they were drawed against Memphis.
On top of all that. Their best player of recent memory, LaMarcus Aldridge is going into free agency this summer. Clearly people in the organization have had it on their minds. Strictly because he is so ready to test the waters. But according to ESPN.com, he’s going to cross the free agency bridge when it comes to him.
“I’ll cross that bridge later on,” Aldridge said when asked about his impending free agency.
“Things were looking like we were going to take over the West,” he said.
“We were one of the top offensive teams in the league,” Aldridge said. “We never found that rhythm. That’s disappointing for us because we know this team is a lot better than what we played.”
Everytime LaMarcus talks about the season that’s transpired. The more I think that he really needs a change of scenery. I think he loves being in Portland but there are so many other teams that are at the same level as Portland.
This might just be a case of ‘The Grass Always Looks Greener On The Other Side’.
