LaMarcus Aldridge is one of the most sought out free agents this summer, and their have been more & more rumors glooming around that he might not be in a Portland Trail Blazers jersey next year.
Multiple sources, including a couple of his team mates, don’t think he will be staying. So if he leaves, where are the places he could go? The San Antonio Spurs are already trying to set up meetings with Aldridge, and the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers probably don’t trail back far.
According to Marc Stein of ESPN:
“We know Knicks & Lakers will chase LaMarcus Aldridge come July”
So let’s do what we do best; weigh LaMarcus Aldridge’s options out, although we literally know nothing about him personally.
The New York Knicks, are a team that is on day one of a rebuilding process that includes only one interesting part, you play with Carmelo Anthony. You also live in one of the greatest cities in the world, New York City. They can offer LaMarcus boat loads of money, and there main promise to Knicks fans is to get Marc Gasol or LaMarcus Aldridge to help Anthony out next year.
The Los Angeles Lakers are coming along in terms of rebuilding, but just endured their worst season EVER. They can offer Aldridge tons of money, a nice city, and a star player (Kobe Bryant) to play with. The Lakers are also targeting Kevin Love, and Marc Gasol.
With both the Knicks and Lakers, they can offer, but instant winning? Not so much.
It really depends what Aldridge wants, if he wants money, the Lakers & Knicks will definitely offer him the most. If he wants to win, along side one of the best coaches ever, a DPOY and finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, and Tony Parker, you play for the Spurs.
Although these are all probably ideas in the back of his head, Aldridge will be focusing on his 2-0 deficit against the Memphis Grizzlies in the 1st round NBA Playoffs.
