The NBA awards continue to be announced. They’re coming one by one. But let’s be honest. It’s all about the Most Valuable Player award isn’t it? Anyways. Today the NBA Executive Of The Year was announced. And as it turns out. It wasn’t that close. Golden State Warriors’ General Manager Bob Myers beat out Cavs GM David Griffin and Atlanta’s Mike Budenzolzer to clinch the award.
Of course, Myers isn’t alone running the show in Golden State.
Myers takes counsel from several Warriors executives, including Kerr (who in the past served as Phoenix Suns general manager). Consultant Jerry West, assistant general managers Travis Schlenk and Kirk Lacob and owner Joe Lacob all have a major say in the goings on. You might notice that both Kirk and Joe Lacob share a last name, and that’s because Kirk is the son of the team owner.
I love how they all have a say in what goes on. It’s not just one nutcase controlling everything. (Dolan I’m looking at you). They sort of disprove the quote ‘too many cooks spoil the broth’ don’t they?
So the Warriors have the Executive of the Year. They should have Coach and the DPOY by now. So that’s 1 out of 3 at this time. Maybe the voters can get the MVP right and vote Curry.
