This morning, Colin Kaepernick shared the first photos of his upcoming Netflix series, Colin in Black & White. Through a handful of photos, Jaden Michael portrays the NFL star during his high school days in California. Michael can be seen hanging out with friends, flirting with his crush and staring at another person off-screen. In addition, there are a few photos of the actors portraying his adopted parents and Kaepernick today.
“I look forward to the world meeting the incredible Jaden Michael, a young actor who plays me during my high school years, just a kid growing up in Turlock, Calif., who wanted to play ball,” Kaepernick said about the first look into the series.
Colin in Black & White is supported by critically acclaimed director Ava DuVernay. Having delivered 13th and When They See Us, she knows a thing or two about working with interesting subjects and bringing them to the screen.
“It’s a deeply collaborative process, not much different than the way that I approached working with the Exonerated Five on When They See Us,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.
“We’re working with a nonlinear format. You’ll see it as not just a straight story, there’s nonlinearity and genre-hopping within the piece. All of those conversations and the experimentation were something that we did together.”
Colin in Black & White will hit Netflix on October 29. Check out the first photos from the upcoming series below.
