The NBA G League has been gaining increased attention as an alternative for some elite prospects who don’t wish to spend a year in the college basketball system. The G League has also started hosting a camp for high-level young players, but the 2020 iteration of the camp was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
At a time when the G League is gaining more widespread attention and potentially its biggest insurgence of high profile talent, the ability for the league to participate in collective bargaining is more important than ever. As the league gains better working conditions and more substantial salaries, the more likely it will be for top prospects to choose the NBA’s developmental system over the NCAA altogether.
