Many experts thought the summer of 2018 wouldn’t provide us with much excitement until the 2018-19 NBA schedule was announced. It was just another summer where the Golden State Warriors went into the offseason as the NBA’s best team and every other team looked hopeless. But in typical NBA fashion, the league went and basically flipped everything on its head.
The Los Angeles Lakers secured the services of possibly the greatest player in league history when LeBron James announced he was headed west. The Warriors just went ahead and added another All-Star in DeMarcus Cousins as he continues his return from a ruptured Achilles. Kawhi Leonard got his wish and was dealt out of San Antonio but he headed to another country as the Toronto Raptors traded for Leonard but the team shipped long-time fan favorite DeMar DeRozan out of Canada and down to San Antonio. And after almost two years of interest, the Rockets were finally able to bring in Carmelo Anthony. Oh, and we also got an interesting crop of rookies joining the league after Deandre Ayton, Marvin Bagley III, Luka Doncic, Mo Bamba, Trae Young and Jaren Jackson Jr were all selected with the first six picks in the 2018 NBA Draft.
We ended up getting a bunch of fireworks following the Warriors sweep of the Cavs in the 2018 NBA Finals and as the season nears, we are presented with another form of discussion and excitement. The 2018-19 NBA schedule is officially here.
