After corralling the prize of this offseason’s free agency period in LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers head into the upcoming season with a completely different outlook as compared to years past.
With their rebuild now giving way to playoff contention and the addition of veteran experience, the Lakers will be one of the most enigmatic teams in the NBA this season. Though James immediately provides them with a win-now mentality right off the bat, LA is also set for a bright future.
Younger pieces such as Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart and Kyle Kuzma give them the youthful punch many of James’ teams have lacked throughout his career. After a frustrating 2017 season with an aging Cleveland Cavaliers team, playing on a roster loaded with raw talent and a slew of handpicked veterans will be a breath of fresh air for James.
Now with star-power in LA back in full force however, the Lakers will have that disadvantageous target on their back throughout these next few years. Every team they face off against will be giving them their best shot and this could wear them down in a grueling Western Conference.
