The weekend box office numbers are in! The sequel to 2014’s ‘Annabelle’, ‘Annabelle: Creation’ dominated the weekend box office. The sequel brought in an estimated $35 million over the weekend, providing a much-needed boost to the summer box office. Which suffered its worst weekend since the late 90’s last weekend. ‘Dunkirk’ continued to chug along at the box office by bringing an additional $10.8 million. The film has also shined internationally bringing over $210 million overseas for a total haul of over $363 million world wide. ‘The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature’ rounded out the top 3 by bringing in $8.3 million in its opening weekend. That’s a sharp decline from the debut of the first ‘The Nut Job’ film which debuted to over $18 million in 2014. The Stephen King epic ‘The Dark Tower’ slipped to the fourth position and brought in an additional $7 million. The film’s budget was actually fairly modest at only $60 million. ‘The Dark Tower’ has managed to bring in a little over $53 million worldwide as of today which isn’t fantastic by any means but it’s perhaps not as a big of a bomb as everyone is making it out to be. The surprise hit of the summer ‘Girls Trip’ rounds out the top 5 by bringing in an additional $6.4 million. The film has made over $100 million at the box office on a budget of just over $19 million.
