Multi-hyphenate entertainer and entrepreneur Jamie Foxx plans to offer details regarding his recent medical challenges in a forthcoming standup comedy project. Foxx teased his upcoming project while speaking at the African American Film Critics Association’s pecial Achievement Awards luncheon.
“Everybody wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened. But I’ve gotta do it in my way,” Foxx said.
“I’m gonna do it in a funny way. We’re gonna be on the stage. We’re gonna get back to the standup sort of roots.”
Last April, Foxx experienced what his family and representatives have described as a “medical complication.” While the entertainer previously declined to discuss his medical challenges, he told his fans that he was starting to feel like himself in August. In December, he made his first public appearance at Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema & Television: Honoring Black, Latino and AAPI Achievements event in Los Angeles, California.
“I’ve been through some things,” Foxx told attendees while accepting the event’s Vanguard Award.
“It’s crazy; I couldn’t do that six months ago. I couldn’t actually walk.”
Four months removed from that event, Foxx says What Had Happened Was, his forthcoming project, will reflect on his life over the last years.
“It’ll be called, What Had Happened Was, and it’s got all the things that happened, especially on our side of our community,” Foxx said.
At this time, there is no word as to when the project will be available for all to enjoy.
