Tyler Perry has extended his creative partnership with Netflix and entered into a multi-year first-look deal with the streamer. Both parties celebrated the deal by announcing the media mogul’s forthcoming series, Beauty In Black.
“Beauty in Black follows two women leading very different lives. While Kimmie is struggling to make a living after her mother kicked her out and Mallory is running a successful business, they find themselves entangled in each other’s lives,” the show’s synopsis reads.
The 16-episode drama will be written and directed by Perry. Angi Bones and Tony Strickland of Tyler Perry Studios will also serve as producers.
Perry is not new to Netflix. Initially, he formed a creative partnership with the streaming service back in 2023. Since then, he’s announced two new films with Netflix: Mea Culpa and Six Triple Eight. Perry has also brought A Jazzman’s Blues, Madea’s Homecoming and A Fall From Grace to the platform.
Beyond his deal with Netflix, he is also reportedly working on several projects, including Black, White & Blue and Divorce In The Black. Not to mention, he recently wrapped up Young Dylan, Sistas, Bruh and All The Queen’s Men in 2023.
