The early reviews for Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dunkirk’ are in and they are fantastic. The film currently holds a 98% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes with an average score of 9.1 out 10. Many critics are praising ‘Dunkirk’s unique approach to story telling as well as the films pacing and tension. ‘Dunkirk’ being well reviewed by critics shouldn’t come as too big of a surprise for those familiar with Nolan’s past work. But the level of praise being heaped on the film borderlines on the sensational, with Peter Traver’s from Rolling Stone saying that Dunkirk “may be the greatest war film ever made”. That review may sound like hyperbole but several other critics have deemed the film a “masterpiece” and “easily the best film of the year”. Concurrently, many critics have also praised the work of Mark Rylance, Tom Hardy and Harry Styles in the film. With The Daily Beast even declaring that Styles was “Great”. We’ve attached some excerpts from some of the most intriguing reviews of the film below.
