Jay “Jeezy” Jenkins will narrate the Jesse Washington-directed documentary, Hip-Hop and The White House, for ESPN’s Andscape &360 series. The film will document how legislation passed in the 1970s and 1980s influenced the creation of Hip-Hop. Roxanne Shante, Common, Bun B and several other Hip-Hop luminaries will appear in the film.
“We feel this is the perfect time to discuss how Hip-Hop has influenced presidential politics, and to ask what we can expect from the culture in this upcoming election season. &360 provides an incredible opportunity to explore and illuminate important stories that have never been fully told,” Washington said.
“I’m looking forward to passing the &360 baton to the next storyteller and seeing new visions come to life.”
Jeezy has a relationship with ESPN that stems back more than 15 years. In 2008, he was featured in Molly Knight’s ESPN Magazine story leading up to the election of now-former President Barack Obama. Later, he graced the stage at the 2010 ESPY Awards. Since then, he’s appeared on First Take with Stephen A. Smith and Max Kellerman and developed a friendship with Jay Bilas.
Jeezy and ESPN will add another chapter to their growing relationship when Hip-Hop & The White House hits Hulu on April 22, 2024.
