RNP.
Two Tens.
Summer Drop.
And the list goes on..
When Cordae released his debut album seven years ago, songs like “Have Mercy” and “Bad Idea” featuring Chance the Rapper served as the lead singles. But as it would turn out, it was the album’s third single, “RNP” featuring Anderson .Paak, that would be the project’s most consequential track. With its playful bounce and braggadocious nature, “RNP” opened the eyes- or ears, rather- of fans and gave them a taste of the duo’s unique chemistry.
In the years that followed, Cordae released two more solo albums and collaborated with everyone from Eminem to Stevie Wonder, while Anderson .Paak recorded a joint album with Bruno Mars and lined his trophy case with GRAMMY Awards. Still, after all of that, the two found their way back to the studio, and now they’re gearing up to drop their first joint album, Heavy Is The Crown, on October 23.
The duo didn’t release a tracklist or a new single with the announcement. Instead, they shared a Step Brothers-inspired trailer and a snippet. If anything, it suggests this project will be as fun, loose and energetic as their previous releases.
