This weekend, the tears will be flowing as Kobe Bryant is inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. As previously announced, Bryant will be honored with a tribute and speech from his mentor, Michael Jordan. Adding to the ceremony, Bryant will also be honored with a speech from his wife, Vanessa Bryant. The Athletic’s Shams Charania confirmed the news earlier this week.
“Vanessa Bryant will speak in honor of Kobe Bryant during Kobe’s Naismith Hall of Fame induction on Saturday. Presenters accompany inductees as they deliver their speeches. Michael Jordan will join Vanessa Bryant on stage,” he tweeted.
Bryant will be enshrined many of his contemporaries including Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan. Garnett will be introduced by fellow Chicago native Isaiah Thomas and Duncan will be introduced by his former teammate David Robinson. Tamika Catchings, Eddie Sutton, Kim Mulkey, Barbara Stevens, Rudy Tomjanovich and Patrick Baumann will also be enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
This year’s enshrinement celebration will take place in Massachusetts on May 15. ESPN will broadcast the proceedings from 5:30-8 p.m. ET.
