
There will be a new face under center when the University of Alabama travels to Raymond James Stadium to play the University of South Florida on Saturday, September 16. Tyler Buchner will reportedly step into the starting quarterback role as the Crimson Tide attempt to bounce back from a 10-point loss last week.
Tyler Buchner is a 20-year-old sophomore quarterback from California who began his career at the University of Notre Dame. In two seasons with the Fighting Irish, the highly-recruited quarterback played in 13 games and completed 56% of his passes for 949 yards and six passing touchdowns. His time at Notre Dame when he suffered a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the majority of the 2022-2023 season. With the Crimson Tide, Buchner has played in one game, completing three of five passes for 27 yards and one rushing touchdown.
Despite the quarterback change and 10-point loss, Alabama enters the South Florida showdown as a 33-point betting favorite. The game is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 p.m. EST on ESPN.
