The New York Jets are looking to bounce back from the loss of their starting quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. With Zach Wilson at the helm, the talented Jets Defense will look to uplift the New York squad as they prepare to battle the Dallas Cowboys. While all of this going on, Jets Owner Woody Johnson has his sights set on another playing field. The former U.S. ambassador is reportedly working to fundraise money for his longtime friend, Donald Trump, as he attempts to become the next President of the United States.
“The sales pitch from team Johnson has been ‘it’s going to be Trump based on the polling. Are you just not going to get on the train as Trump heads to be the nominee,’” a Republican strategist familiar with the fundraising efforts told CNBC.
Johnson’s duties will reportedly involve contacting donors, planning events and hosting fundraisers as the primary season heats up. As described in a recent CNBC report, Johnson is “all in on helping his onetime boss win back the White House in 2024.” Trump holds a sizeable lead among Republican candidates heading into the Iowa Caucuses set for January. In the meantime, he will have to navigate his myriad of legal issues. Across New York, Georgia and Washington, D.C., he has been charged with attempting to overturn the election, fraud and defamation.
