The Houston Texans have traded wide receiver Brandin Cooks to the Dallas Cowboys for a 5th and 6th-round pick. The 5th-round pick is in the 2023 NFL Draft while the 6th-round pick is in the 2024 NFL Draft. Cooks had expressed his interest in playing for a competitive team for some time now and was almost traded at the 2022 NFL Trade Deadline. Dallas was one of the teams interested at the time. The Cowboys had two primary needs this offseason and have now traded for both of them with the additions of Cooks and cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
Trade terms:
?Houston receives: a 5th round pick in 2023 and 6th round pick in 2024.
?Dallas receives: WR Brandin Cooks.

Brandin Cooks has been a journeyman in his NFL career, with the Dallas Cowboys now being his fifth NFL team. He has been good in every season with last year being just the third time he didn’t cross 1,000 yards in a season in his career. For Dallas, trading Amari Cooper last offseason opened up space for CeeDee Lamb, but also opened up a hole for their second receiving option. The hopes this season is Cooks can slot into that role and stabilize the options for quarterback Dak Prescott.
Wide receiver Brandin Cooks restructured his contract Saturday so that Houston will pay $6 million of his salary this season and the Cowboys now will pay the remaining $12 million, per source.

This past season with the Hoston Texans and poor quarterback play, Brandin Cooks caught 57 passes for 699 yards and three touchdowns on 93 targets. He also rushed the ball two times for seven yards and zero rushing touchdowns. It is hard to judge this season on Cooks’ ability with poor team play and the wide receiver clearly not wanting to be on a losing team. Dallas could still bring a 1,000-yard season out of the veteran wide receiver.
