Triller is reportedly seeking to host the long-awaited undisputed lightweight title fight featuring Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos on October 5 at the Hulu Theater in New York.
“We’re really excited about it: Tuesday night boxing in New York,” Triller CEO Ryan Kavanaugh stated.
Triller established a partnership with Madison Square Garden back in late July. Throughout the course of the deal, Triller will host boxing matches on the first Tuesday of each month. The first card featured former title challenger Chris Algieri and light heavyweight contender Michael Hunter. Shortly after the boxing match occurred, Triller hosted a Verzuz battle that featured The Lox and Dipset. At this time, there is no indication that a Verzuz battle would follow the Lopez and Kambosos fight.
Lopez will look to defend his lightweight title after beating Vasyl Lomachenko in October. He was originally set to fight Kambosos in Miami earlier this summer, but the bout was postponed after he tested positive for COVID-19. From there, Triller attempted to hold the fight in Australia on October 17. However, Lopez objected and the fight was pushed back into the United States.
Lopez enters the ring with a record of 16 wins and 12 by way of knockout. Meanwhile, Kambosos enters the ring with a record of 19 wins and 9 by way of knockout.
