It has only been one week but many fantasy players are already panicking about their teams. Free agency can be a nice tool where players improve their fantasy squads to make their teams viable again. Which waiver wire guys could potentially save your season?
Quarterbacks:
Carson Wentz probably leads the list here. Head coach Doug Peterson comes from the Andy Reid coaching tree and looks like an offense that could put up points at times. Wentz could have games where Philly is behind and forced to throw in garbage time. The same can be said for Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. He didn’t have a great week one but he is sure to have a couple rushing touchdowns along the way adding to his value. Chiefs signal caller Alex Smith could also be a nice gem depending on the match up. His rushing stats also add greatly to his value.
Running Backs:
Assuming you play in a real fantasy league and guys like Christine Michael, Tevin Coleman, Spencer Ware, and Theo Riddick are gone their are some options fantasy owners have. Terrance West from Baltimore could be a nice option as it appears he is the best of the 4 man group with the Ravens. Patriots back James White appears to be a nice receiving option for the Patriots up until Dion Lewis returns. Travaris Cadet appears to have secured the third down role for the Saints. He could be a high risk – high reward type guy when Drew Brees has one of those lights out games. That leaves you with potential backups like Chris Johnson and Bilal Powell in case of injury.
Wide Receivers:
Titans receiver Tajae Sharpe looks like the real deal despite coming in as a rookie 5th rounder. That Sharpe must do wonders for a pass catcher. Victor Cruz may be worth the gamble and appears rejuvenated. Pick your poison with the Patriots receivers. Last week it was Chris Hogan, this week maybe it is Malcolm Mitchell. Mike Wallace could be a nice option, especially when you know all he needs to do is haul in one deep ball per game. Chargers wide out Tyrell Williams is also an option with the injury to Keenan Allen.
Tight Ends:
C.J. Uzomah tops the list as long as Tyler Eifert is out for Cincy. Dennis Pitta from Baltimore is finally back after two years from a injured hip. He started over other options such as Crockett Gilmore and Maxx Williams. With Keenan Allen out for San Diego they may lean on rookie tight end Hunter Henry more in duel sets with Antonio Gates.
