
TIDAL and Dolby celebrate Meek Mill’s Grammy-nominated album Championships with an exclusive live performance.
The Philadelphia rapper boasts his first Grammy nomination for the 2018 release Championships. He stands up against Tyler The Creator (IGOR), Dreamville (ROTDIII), 21 Savage (I Am > I Was), and YBN Cordae (The Lost Boy) for ‘Best Rap Album.’ With 19-tracks, the album features Cardi B, Young Thug, Drake and more. Championships marks Meek Mill’s return to rap after serving time in prison.
With TIDAL and Dolby, Meek Mill created an exclusive entertainment experience. The listening event hosted in Los Angeles at the NeueHouse Hollywood showcased the Dolby sound experience. Meek Mill took to the stage performing “24/7”, “All Eyes On You”, and “Going Bad.” The performance will be released for streaming on TIDAL in upcoming weeks.
Dolby Atmos allows listeners to fully emerge in the music, offering a new streaming experience. According to a statement while listening to a Dolby Atmos version of a project, “listeners can discover hidden details and subtleties with unparalleled clarity. Now available to TIDAL HiFi tier subscribers, the platform will automatically default to this experience if a Dolby Atmos mix is available. Songs and albums will be marked with the Dolby logo if selected.
TIDAL is working closely with its artist-owners, including JAY-Z hoping for more artists to mix their catalogs in Dolby Atmos.
Beyond the Grammy nomination, Meek Mill can also celebrate his on-screen debut. The rapper stars in the film Charm City Kings which debuts at Sundance on January 27, 2020.
