The Los Angeles Lakers have been busy this offseason, signing Luol Deng, Timofey Mozgov, and re-signing Jordan Clarkson. Now they have re-signed back-up center Tarik Black. According to Shams Charania of The Vertical:
Free-agent center Tarik Black has agreed to a two-year, $12.85 million deal to re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources told The Vertical.
Black’s deal will include a trade kicker and a guarantee date in the second season, sources said. For Black, the salary represents the maximum he was able to earn under the Early Bird provision.
The Lakers signing black to a $6 million dollar per year salary is indicative of how much the salary cap has really increased. Black averaged 3.4 points and 4 rebounds for the Lakers off the bench in 12 minutes of action. The Lakers have a very bright future ahead of them with Brandan Ingram and the supporting cast of Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson and D’Angelo Russell. With their new coach in Luke Walton, you hope that the Lakers will shape to become a young and exciting team to watch next year.
