Think back just a few years. The world of music is riding high following the release of Future’s Dirty Sprite II, What A Time To Be Alive just dropped and Bryson Tiller is cementing his position in R&B with the introduction of Trapsoul. In the midst of all of that and just a few months before Drake would rule the summer with Views, Rihanna stepped up and delivered an unforgettable body of work known as Anti. Not only did the international star’s eighth album feature tracks like “Needed Me” and “Work” featuring Drake, but it also added to the singer’s undeniable impact on pop music today.
Six years have passed since Rihanna dropped Anti and a lot has happened. She has appeared on a number of chart-topping LPs, including Views, DAMN and Hndrxx. While she has popped up on a track here and there, it appears that her focus has shifted toward her business endeavors. Most notably, she has turned her imprint, Fenty, into a billion-dollar enterprise that offers cosmetics, apparel and much more. Not to be forgotten, she has also given birth to her first child with A$AP Rocky.
Having established her name in business and started a family, Rihanna has decided to return to music. Earlier this month, the NFL announced that she would be the halftime performer at this year’s Super Bowl. Shortly thereafter, multiple reports indicated that she is putting together a stadium tour for 2023. Now, she’s adding fuel to the fire with the release of the first single from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack — “Lift Me Up.”
