Issa Rae has returned to deliver the Rap Sh*t trailer. The 166-second sneak peek of HBO’s newest comedy offers a look at Aida Osman, KaMillion, Jonica Booth and Devon Terrell as they navigate the music industry and the city of Miami, Florida.
“305 we live! HBO Max’s new original series, RAP SH*T, is giving us something for the summer. From executive producer Issa Rae comes a new show that follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna and Mia, who reunite to form a rap group. Join Shawna and Mia as they try to make it in the rap scene all while staying true to themselves,” the trailer’s description reads.
Rap Sh*t is the third offering from Rae through HBO. Previously, Rae crafted the hit series, Insecure. More recently, she delivered Sweet Life: Los Angeles to HBO Max and earned a second season renewal. Now, she’ll return to the main network to premiere what she describes as her “sophomore album.”
“This is kind of like my sophomore album—I consider Awkward Black Girl as my mixtape, Insecure my first album. So with this one, there is pressure, but I’m really excited about it. I hope that people have an open mind—it’s such a fun show,” Rae said about the new show.
Rap Sh*t will debut on July 21, 2022. Check out the trailer below.
