Last week, the POTW honors were in favor of the longball, with Jorge Soler and Aristedes Aquino taking home the honors but this week was a different story. Devers has really come into his own and this season has been a true breakout season for him, but with the Red Sox, they also have rising star Michael Chavis performing very well in the shadows.
In the six games that he played in this past week, Rafael Devers managed a .593/.633/1.185 slash line while mashing 3 home runs and 11 RBI for a Red Sox team that is trying to get back to where they were last year, the World Series. Devers also made history this week as he recorded six hits with four of them being doubles in a contest against the Cleveland Indians. Surprisingly, Devers is the first player to take home the POTW honors this season for the Red Sox.
On a Diamondbacks team that traded away Zack Greinke as well as top prospect Jazz Chisholm at the trade deadline, they have committed to selling. This did not stop Ahmed, he has not slowed his pace and still managed to string together a great week last week for the Diamondbacks. As the second Diamondbacks player to receive the honor this year, Ahmed slashed .423/.464/1.038 this past week with 4 home runs and 11 RBI over the course of seven games this past week.
