As quiet as it’s kept, Friday was an incredibly busy day for music across all genres. Lizzo called on Cardi B for her new single, Justin Bieber hopped on the “Essence” remix and Wale delivered a new single with Yella Beezy and Maxo Kream. Adding to your weekend playlist, UK’s Pip Millett also delivered a new EP called Motion Sick.
Pip Millett’s new project is an evocative piece of art because it works a number of different thoughts and emotions into this living, breathing musical landscape that will have a different meaning depending on who you are and where you here. For example, “Running” explores racial inequalities in western societies while “Sad Girls” feels like an open confessional about a relationship gone wrong. In short, Motion Sick feels like Pip Millett let us read her diary for 19 minutes. At times, it feels like she’s let us to far into her mind, but by the end you feel connected to her.
“I have often felt lost when things around me have started to change. In recent times I’ve realized I’m simply Motion Sick. My core self is still there, but without change there cannot be any growth. Motion Sick is about the various changes in my life. With this change, I have tried to find comfort in the simple things,” she said about her new project.
Following the release of Motion Sick, Pip Millett is hitting the road. Beginning in October, the rising artist will make stops in Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, London and several other cities. In the meantime, check out Motion Sick below.
