Sixteen years ago, a young man from Louisiana by the name of David Brown stopped by American Idol to sing a rendition of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.” Impressing the judges, Brown took his talents to Hollywood and beyond before being knocked out in the round of 20. Fortunately, that didn’t stop his dreams from coming true.
Just a few years later, Brown began to break through into the mainstream by landing credits on Ne-Yo’s “She Got Her Own” and Keith Sweat’s Just Me. In 2018, he finally got his time to shine as a solo artist on Keep Cool Records. Since then, he’s delivered a solo album, dropped three EPs and grabbed four GRAMMY nominations. Above all else, he’s earned co-signs from legends like Babyface and Raphael Saadiq. This week, he grabbed another co-sign from a legendary group.
This weekend, Earth, Wind & Fire pleased many fans by announcing the release of their next single, “You Want My Love.” If dropping new music wasn’t enough, “You Want My Love” will also feature David “Lucky Daye” Brown. Fans can get this new track on midnight on August 20.
