There is never a dull moment when Packer Shoes is involved with a collaboration. Teaming back up with a familiar face in Just Blaze, The Saucony Grid SD is the shoe of choice to bring forth the upcoming Packer Shoes x Just Blaze x Saucony Grid SD ‘Casino’. Now this isn’t the first time Packer has teamed up with someone of Just Blaze’s stature, they have dabbled in the “Hip-Hop” seen before to bring forth a unique take on whatever it is that has influence the collaboration. We have seen Packer come forth with the help of Fabolous and Teyana Taylor for a project, most recent Raekwon for their ‘Purple Tape‘ project and lets not forget the first Just Blaze collaboration ‘Snow Beach‘ which was inspired by the popular Ralph Lauren Polo jacket.
That is what inspired the ‘Casino’ collaboration, a classic button down shirt and Packer has provided release details telling fans all about what has led us here along with detailed pictures and a video.
Let us know down in the comments your thoughts on whether these will be a DEF Cop or DEF Not.
Packer by Just Blaze: Saucony Grid SD “Casino” from Packer Shoes on Vimeo.
Last summer, we teamed up with Saucony and legendary hip-hop producer, Just Blaze, to pay homage to one of the 1990’s most infamous apparel pieces. The “Snow Beach” Grid 9000 brought the colors and details from the iconic jacket to life in sneaker form, and now, a year later, we’ve joined forces once again to honor another notorious item from a certain revered American clothing brand’s storied back catalog. Originally released in 1993, the “Casino” button-down has become a grail item for collectors over the years, and this month, we’ll be giving the motif a new twist by way of the Saucony Grid SD.
The shoe features a red base done up in a combination of premium suede and a ripstop nylon material that captures the look of the grid pattern found on the shirt. Green synthetic suede references the feel of a casino table’s felt and “00” and “36” are embroidered onto the heels as a nod to the first and last numbers on the roulette wheel. Additional features include a roulette wheel graphic on the tongue label, reflective 3M accents and co-branded lace plaques and sockliners. Last but not least, the left shoe sports one white dot to represent the roulette ball.
In addition to the Grid SD, the “Casino” collection will also include a t-shirt, tote bag, bucket hat and a set of custom Bicycle cards and dice.
To celebrate the release, we’ll be doing a special pop-up shop in New York City’s Lower East Side on Friday, October 16th at the Wallplay space (118 Orchard St.).
Additional details to be announced on Monday.
