Netflix has been in the news lately for many of the wrong reasons. Most notably, an armed civilian recently made their way on stage during Dave Chappelle’s performance at the Hollywood Bowl during the Netflix Is A Joke Festival. Elsewhere, the streaming platform made headlines when it was reported that it had recorded a decrease in subscribers for the first time in a decade. Not to mention, subscribers have raised issues with the cancellation of popular shows like The Get Down, The Society and American Vandal. As Netflix pushes forward, the streaming giant aims to try a few new things in an effort to pull viewers in.
Deadline has reported that Netflix will implement live streaming options in the future. Details regarding the company’s live streaming strategy are unclear, but it does appear that reality shows like Dance 100 and comedy specials may utilize the technology. In addition, live streaming could be utilized for live voting during reality shows or as a way to broadcast reality show reunion specials.
Netflix is not the only streaming platform to implement live streaming into its viewer experience. Disney+ recently broadcasted the Academy Awards and Dancing With The Stars will be available on the platform. Also, NBC’s Peacock has been used to air live sports and talk shows.
