Netflix has decided to cancel their supernatural drama series, The Society, after one season on the streaming service. This news comes nearly a year after the streaming giant announced that it would renew the season for a second season. Early reports indicated that the show had began production on a second season, but things were stopped in motion during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Society‘s lead actress, Kathryn Newton, addressed the cancellation by simply tweeting, “I am proud.”
Newton led an ensemble cast of young, talented actors that included Jacques Colimon, Jack Mulhern, Alex Fitzlan and Sean Berdy. Together, the promising team told the story of a group of teenagers who were trapped in an alternate universe without adults, outside civilization or proper food and water. Ultimately, the group bands together for survival, but tempers flare leading to violence, greed and jealousy.
At this time, it’s unclear if the show will return on another network.
