It’s been a wild week for Netflix. Still riding high from the success of Bird Box, the streaming service unveiled a new feature film for their series, Black Mirror. Not to mention, they released a new trailer for their upcoming film starring Chevy Chase. To top it all off, they have a new concert special for Taylor Swift coming on New Year’s Eve. Still, the streaming service is thinking two steps ahead for the betterment of subscribers.

Despite the release of their new Black Mirror film, Netflix has confirmed the release of a new season of the series in the new year. According to Buzz Feed’s Scott Bryan, there will be a new season for fans in 2019. Bryan tweets, “Netflix has told me that the fifth season of Black Mirror is still to come in 2019.” He adds, “Bandersnatch was not the fifth season, but a standalone interactive film, in case you were wondering.”
This report comes as fans check out the film for the first time over the holiday break. It’s unclear how the film is performing, but it has garnered the attention of social media in the wake of Netflix’s Bird Box. Only time will tell how the film furthers the growing fan base of the sci-fi series.
