The University of Michigan has hired Sherrone Moore to lead its football program. Moore has reportedly secured a five-year deal with the university that includes a base salary of $500,000 and $5 million in additional compensation. He can also earn an additional $3.5 million in incentives, including a $500,000 bonus for winning a conference championship and $1 million for winning a national championship.
“I have been preparing my entire coaching career for this opportunity and I can’t think of a better place to be head coach than at the University of Michigan,” Moore stated.
“We will do everything each day as a team to continue the legacy of championship football that has been played at Michigan for the past 144 years. Our standards will not change. We will be a smart, tough, dependable, relentless, and enthusiastic championship-level team that loves football and plays with passion for the game, the winged helmet and each other.”
Moore steps into the position after Jim Harbaugh left the program to become the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers. Moore, who worked under Harbaugh as his defensive coordinator at Michigan, received his full support as he takes the job.
“The only person I would want to do the job,” Harbaugh said.
“I have 100% conviction that he will make us all very proud.”
Moore and the Michigan Wolverines will begin their 2024-2025 campaign at home against Fresno State before hosting the Texas Longhorns, Washington Huskies, USC Trojans and Oregon Ducks later in the season.
