2023 top-five recruit and number one power forward Ron Holland has announced his commitment from the Texas Longhorns and the reopening of his recruitment. The five-star commit originally endorsed the Longhorns’ hire of Head Coach Rodney Terry and expressed his eagerness to play for him next season. Now he is once again uncommitted and looking at other programs. The “one and done” prospect will likely have his pick of college basketball programs now that he is back on the market. Before picking Texas he considered the UCLA Bruins, Arkansas Razorbacks, Kentucky Wildcats, and the G League Ignite.

Ron Holland is expected to be a top end lottery selection in the 2024 NBA Draft and will undoubtedly be a talented freshman when or if he plays this fall. The option to go pro this year and play for the G League or another league could still lure him away from college basketball. The “one and done” prospect will have nearly any option that he wishes to pick in the next few weeks while he weighs his options. Holland could one day be one of the better players in the NBA one day, but that all begins with his next choice and where he plays basketball at in the fall.
