The Texas Longhorns have removed the interim tag from Head Coach Rodney Terry and signed him to a new deal. This new deal between Texas and Terry will be for five years. Terry was named the interim Head Coach this season when Head Coach Chris Beard was arrested for domestic violence. Those charges were later dropped, but Beard was suspended and later fired in between the arrest and the charges being dropped. Terry led the Longhorns to the 2023 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight this season. Five-star Texas signee Ron Holland is thrilled by the hire.

As the interim Head Coach of the Texas Longhorns this season, Rodney Terry led the program to an overall record of 22-8. He also won the 2023 Big 12 Tournament and made the Elite Eight with the program. It was believed that the program would work quickly to get the Head Coach a new deal and one has been finalized the day after the team was eliminated from the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Terry more than earned the job with his performance this season despite the drama that circulated the program.
So proud of each and every one of these individuals for all they accomplished this year. This was a special group of guys who will be brothers for the rest of their lives. I am blessed to be a part of their very bright futures. An amazing group!#HookEm ?? pic.twitter.com/3BksvsEbcw

Texas has a lucrative NIL program and should be a force in college basketball for years to come with Rodney Terry as the Head Coach. The program will be moving from the Big 12 to the SEC soon and that will make things even more exciting for the program.
