Tyshun Raequan “Deebo” Samuel has been cleared to play in the 2024 NFC Championship on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. in Santa Clara, California.
Samuel caught two passes for 24 yards while playing against the Green Bay Packers last week. However, his day at Levi’s Stadium was cut short when he sustained a shoulder injury. Many feared that Samuel had sustained a hairline fracture and would be unable to play on Sunday, but those fears were quickly squashed when he was cleared to play on Friday, January 26.
Samuel will be an integral piece of San Francisco’s offensive attack as they attempt to down the second-seeded Lions at home. With a win, the 49ers would return to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years.
“A game like this, you’ve got to put everything on the line,” Samuel told reporters on Friday.
“We’ve been here four out of the last five years, and three years we fell short and one year we fell short in the Super Bowl. It’s kind of like, ‘What is it going to take?’ I feel like we’ve got all the things that we need in this building. … It’s all hands on deck, and we know what’s at stake.”
Despite suffering an injury earlier this season and being sidelined last Sunday, Samuel is ready to lay it all on the lie with a shot at a conference championship.
“I ain’t protecting nothing,” Samuel said.
Samuel and company will enter Levi’s Stadium as seven-point favorites. If they emerge with the win, they’ll play the Kansas City Chiefs or the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl LVIII. The Chiefs knocked off the 49ers in their last attempt to win a Super Bowl title and the Ravens handed the 49ers their only 14-point loss of the season. Either way, San Francisco will have revenge on their mind, but they’ll need to get by Detroit first.
