Maverick Carter is on his way to adding another line to his already incredible resume. Earlier this week, AfroTech reported that Carter had been appointed to the Red Sox Foundation’s board of directors. In this role, Carter will help “develop and achieve the Foundation’s strategic goals and mission of improving lives throughout New England in the areas of health, recreation, and education.”
“Empowerment is at the center of everything I do, whether that be in business, family or philanthropy,” Carter shared in a statement obtained by AfroTech.
“It’s an honor for me to join the Red Sox Foundation’s Board of Directors and have the opportunity to help inspire and empower families and communities in Boston and beyond.”
Just a few months ago, Carter also joined the Fenway Sports Group alongside his business associate, LeBron James. As the first two Black partners of the Fenway Sports Group, Carter and James acquired a portion of the Boston Red Sox, Liverpool Football Club, Roush Fenway Racing, and NESN Networks.
“Well first of all, it’s great to be with such a great group with FSG,” James said in April.
“They’ve done so many great things over the years, and just that collective group of people — they’re just amazing to be partners with.”
Aside from their work with the Red Sox, Carter and James also pilot the popular content company, Uninterrupted. Through the content house, Carter helps lead The Shop on HBO along with a number of other digital series and podcasts.
