From online skits to music video cameos, Mark Phillips and RDC World have played an integral role in online comedy, pop culture and content creation for the better part of the last decade. Their consistent work has caught the attention of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and others. Recently, Phillips chopped it up with NBA Champion Iman Shumpert about his upbringing, comedy and much more. During their conversation, Shumpert and Phillips talked about an upcoming project that he’s working on with Issa Rae and Michael B. Jordan.
“We’ve got an Anime coming out. It’s called Dark Lights,” he told Shumpert.
“Actually, [we’ve] got two Anime for real, but the main one we’re talking about now is Dark Lights. It’s with Issa Rae and Michael B. Jordan. They’re producers on it.”
Through his work on Dark Lights, Phillips has also had the opportunity to spend time on the set of Issa Rae’s Rap Sh*t and learn about the ins and outs of Hollywood.
“I was on the Rap Sh*t set the other day and I just got to be around Issa Rae,” he continued.
“I’m not around them all of the time. Usually, I’m talking to someone that’s close to them about the stuff, but when I do get to be around them, I’m always grateful. I’m really just trying to watch and be like, ‘Ok. That’s how you handle this problem or this is how you handle this.’ I’m ready to go. I’m ready to be in that position with all of my team [members] and really make something great. So, I’m really trying to learn. I’m not trying to be starstruck.”
