Justin called into Mojo in the Morning, a popular morning radio show in Detroit for an interview. As the conversation got going it was clear Bieber wasn’t quite feeling some of the questions he was being asked. It started when Mojo, the show’s host, said to him “I hope you take this as a compliment. When I heard ‘Boyfriend’ for the very first time, I thought it was Justin Timberlake’s single.”
This may not seem like too harsh of a statement to make. But, artists tend to pride themselves on their originality and this could be taken as offensive. There were surely better ways that Mojo could have went about making the Timberlake comparison as opposed to blatantly saying that he thought Justin Bieber’s single was, in fact, by Justin Timberlake.
Justin replied, “Saying I sound like someone else is not really a compliment”.
The interview went on.
As if things weren’t already awkward, Mojo continued to make borderline-offensive statements. He decides to bring up boy band One Direction now. One of the band’s members- a buddy of Bieber’s- Harry Styles has a reputation for dating older women. So, to Mojo, it seemed relevant to ask Justin if he was afraid that his friend would hit on his mother. The host asks “Do you worry about Harry around your mom, since he likes older women?”
This is where the interview started really going downhill.
Justin sounded taken back, replying “Do I wonder… what?”
Now, clearly angry with the host, Justin came back with “I think you should worry about me around your mom, bro.”
Mojo decided that saying “Justin, my mom’s dead, so unfortunately it wouldn’t work,” would be a professional way to respond to this.
After this, Justin ended the interview altogether. He hung up the phone.

Recently in a different interview Bieber said he would consider it a compliment to be compared to Timberlake so what is different now? In regards to the Harry Styles comment him and Selena have joked about that previously and Selena revealed that in an interview. She said – Both me and Justin still have really hot mums and Justin was like, ‘Harry might have become one of my best buddies, but with his record we need to keep him away from our mums’. So it’s okay for them to joke about but nobody else can?
