R. Kelly faces criminal investigation following debut of Lifetime docu-series “Surviving R. Kelly“. The 6-part documentary broadcasted the dangerous, predatory behavior exhibited by R. Kelly for decades.
The investigation stems from the state of Georgia where R. Kelly allegedly houses his victims. TMZ reports that the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office began the probe into R. Kelly following Surviving R. Kelly and reached out several survivors involved in the docu-series.
“We’re told investigators have been reaching out to several survivors featured in the TV project. We have confirmed investigators reached out to Asante McGee, one of the women who allegedly escaped R. Kelly’s home” says TMZ.
The D.A. did not directly respond to inquiries,
R. Kelly criminal investigations may be a theme of 2019. Chicago joins Fulton County with efforts to bring R. Kelly under prosecution. The singer’s hometown hopes to bring justice with the help of R. Kelly’s victims. The Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx urges more survivors to come forward with their stories.
“There’s nothing that can be done to investigate these allegations without the cooperation of both victims and witnesses. We cannot seek justice without you,” she said. “We need actual witnesses and victims to have the courage to tell their stories.” says Foxx in a press conference.
Previously, facing charges of child pornography in Chicago in 2008, following the release of damning footage, R. Kelly has never been found guilty.
