Sad news for the football world today as news spread that football and NFL icon John Madden had passed away unexpectedly at the age of 85. The former player, coach, broadcaster, and inspiration behind video game football will perhaps leave an impact on football that can never be matched by any other. Memorial services for the football titan will be announced when they become available as the world mourns the legendary person that was Madden.

John Madden spent his entire coaching career in the NFL with the Oakland Raiders where he made the playoffs all but two years, made the conference championship seven times, and won Super Bowl XI. After retiring from coaching Madden would step into the broadcast booth and build on his legendary football career. He spent time with Fox Sports, CBS Sports, NBC Sports, and ABC Sports.

John Madden would also contribute and lend his name and image to Madden Football and spark video game football for millions of sports and game lovers. His contributions to the game of football will never be forgotten. The Hall of Famer has contributed more to football than perhaps anybody else in the history of the sport.
