The Carolina Panthers are adding Jim Caldwell to their coaching staff as a senior assistant for the franchise. Caldwell interviewed for the Panthers’ Head Coach position before the program hired former Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Frank Reich for the position. Caldwell has coached many places in the NFL in different positions. He has been the Head Coach of both the Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions in the past. Many former head coaches take roles as senior assistants and eventually use that position to get another job as a coordinator or as a Head Coach.
The #Panthers do what so many others had tried: They hire Jim Caldwell as a senior assistant.

As the Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions, Jim Caldwell has an overall record of 62-50 and a postseason record of 2-4. Caldwell coached in the Indianapolis Colts’ loss to the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV. He also led the Detroit Lions to two different NFL Playoff berths but lost both times in the Wild Card Round. Caldwell is an exceptional football mind and could be invaluable to the rebuilding Carolina Panthers this upcoming season. If all goes well he should get another chance in the future to prove he can be a Head Coach once again.
