The Carolina Panthers have hired former Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Frank Reich to be the next Head Coach of the franchise. Reich was the Head Coach of the Colts from 2018 to 2022 when he was fired mid-season after another disappointing season. While the Panthers interviewed several candidates they ultimately went with someone that had experience as a Head Coach already. Back in 1995, Reich started three games as quarterback for the Panthers before serving as the backup to quarterback Kerry Collins. He threw the first touchdown pass in the history of the Panthers franchise that season.

As the Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts, Frank Reich led the franchise to an overall record of 40-33-1. He also led the team to the NFL Playoffs in two seasons and led the team to a Playoff record of 1-2. Indianapolis struggled to find a franchise quarterback after the sudden retirement of Andrew Luck. The Panthers are also currently looking for a franchise quarterback in the hopes of building a contending team.

Frank Reich’s return to the Carolina Panthers is an interesting choice considering he was just fired after multiple seasons of underwhelming performances. The NFC South appears to be wide open and the team has plenty of talented youth. Finding a franchise quarterback is the number one priority moving forward.
