Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has undergone shoulder surgery to fix a long-lasting issue that has bothered him since 2019. Cook hurt his shoulder back in 2019 and has re-aggravated the injury several times since then. He underwent the surgery on Tuesday morning to finally fix the issue. After injuring the shoulder again this past season in Week Four against the Detroit Lions and wearing a brace all season he decided it was time to fix the issue, hopefully for good. He should be ready to go for offseason training later in the year.
Vikings’ Pro-Bowl RB Dalvin Cook, who is second in the NFL in total yards since 2019, underwent surgery today to fix the broken shoulder he suffered in that same year, 2019. “Dalvin has been absolutely dominant and we cannot wait until September,” said his agency @LAASportsEnt.

There has been some discussion about the Minnesota Vikings moving on from the running back this offseason, but his cap hit is significant. Dalvin Cook carries a cap hit of $14.1 million and before the surgery, the team could have saved $7.8 million if they cut him. His contract has a two-million-dollar injury guarantee that is active now because of the surgery. That means that the team can now only save $5.8 million by cutting the star running back this offseason.
This past season with the Minnesota Vikings, Dalvin Cook rushed the ball 264 times for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught 39 passes for 295 yards and two receiving touchdowns. The Vikings have a tough decision to make this offseason, but regardless hopefully Cook has cleared up his shoulder issue. We here at Def Pen Sports wish Cook the best in his recovery and return to the football field.
