Louisville Cardinals junior forward Jaelyn Withers has announced that he is transferring to the North Carolina Tar Heels. The inter-ACC transfer comes as a surprise, but the Tar Heels have several roster spots to fill after having six players transfer from the program. Withers was a rotational player this year for a Louisville team that did nor perform well in the ACC or the NCAA as a whole. They were one of the worst high majors teams in the NCAA during the 2022-23 college basketball season. Now he will play for the team’s ACC opponent next season.

As a junior with the Louisville Cardinals, Jaelyn Withers averaged 8.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 0.8 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 43.3 percent and a three-point percentage of 41.7 percent. The Tar Heels have added two transfers this offseason now, but still have four open scholarship spots to fill for the 2023-24 college basketball season. That means more news faces will be heading to Chapel Hill before the Fall. Withers will be one of those new faces, but for now, his exact role is unknown. North Carolina will be hoping for a better outcome this upcoming season.
