2023 Top Ten Recruit and Duke Blue Devils commit Mackenzie Mgbako has requested a release from his signed letter of intent. This comes just hours after Duke Blue Devils freshman big man Kyle Filipowski announced he would be returning to the program for the 2023-24 college basketball season. Mgbako likely expects to start next season and that might not happen with the loaded Duke roster next season. There are plenty of programs that will reach out to the top ten recruit for next season if Due releases him from his letter of intent.

Mackenzie Mgbako is a talented prospect and should be a clear-cut “one and done” power forward that declares for the 2024 NBA Draft after one season of playing college basketball. Assuming he is released from his letter of intent, Mgbako will likely be fielding offers from any program that he is interested in playing for next season. He is ranked currently as the seventh-best prospect in the 2023 recruiting class and as the second-best power forward. This is a huge development and programs that had plans at the potion could change them to go all in on the likely “one and done” prospect for next season.
